To emphasize the risks catastrophic emergencies pose to our civil liberties and the role emergency preparedness plays in mitigating these risks.
To promote the T.A.R.A.® concept through brand licensing to businesses engaged in the sale of emergency preparedness goods and services and provide venues for their sale.
What Is T.A.R.A.?
T.A.R.A. ® is a multi media advertising and marketing campaign intended to create a national preparedness brand to compliment the Red Cross which is primarily a disaster relief brand.
T.A.R.A.® seeks to sell the public on the idea of preparedness through entertaining content. The didactic approach just doesn't seem to be working as evidenced by the lack of preparedness before, during and after Hurricane Katrina.
Members who register at http://www.TARANOW.org are e-mailed free of charge monthly "TARA Tips" on what steps to take prepare. Reminders will also be sent to rotate perishable items such as stored water and canned goods.
Businesses and Individual Households are encouraged to participate in "Tech Free Tuesdays" to plan for an emergency when transportation may not be possible and power and communications lines may be down.
Businesses engaged in the sale of goods and services related to preparing foran emergency may wish to participate in T.A.R.A co branding. For more information on co branding please call 760-610-9282
Why The Reference To Gone With The Wind?
In Margaret Mitchell's "Gone With The Wind" socialite Scarlett O'Hara's way of dealing with difficult problems was to "think about it later." Later arrived after the Civil War when she had to fight to keep what her father called "Tara", Irish for "The Land."
On 9/11 later arrived for America. The best way each of us can fight for our homeland is to be prepared. Thought precedes action and the T.A.R.A. ® message is "Think About Readiness America!"® now because tomorrow may be too late.
Who Founded T.A.R.A.?
T.A.R.A. was founded soon after the events of 9/11 by Lance Cory Frank. Like many Americans, those times inspired in Frank a desire to do something to help. He created T.A.R.A. to help indviduals prepare for the effects of any emergency, natural or man made.
